WELL RE(A)D (February, 2014)
Well Re(a)d: Photographic Interpretations of Literature, Las Puertas, 2014
Voted the year’s “Best Art Exhibition” by Burque’s beloved Alibi readers, GPG’s “Well Re(a)d” show (quite humbly) outranked “Deco Japan” at the Albuquerque Museum with our photographic representations of favorite literary works! The phonic double-entendre “Well Re(a)d” combined the color with the idea that our mind’s eye envisions the stories we read uniquely. Images were titled according to the prose by which they were inspired.
Best of Show: Love in a Time of Cholera, Annalee Davey
1st Runner-up: Unbearable Lightness of Being, Andy Mayo
2nd Runner-up: The Scarlet Letter, Shawna Cory
People's Choice: The Anarchist Cookbook, Evil Elvis
